Maurice Lucas
Maurice Lucas played for Al McGuire at Marquette University, where he was an All-American in 1972, 1973 and 1974. He also represented the U.S.A at the World University Games in Moscow, won Gold during his collegiate career. A five-time All-Star in the ABA/NBA, Maurice helped lead the Portland Trail Blazers to the 1977 World Championship. He served as the Vice President of the NBA Players Association for eight years, and currently serves as a Board member of the NBA Retired Players Association. Since leaving the NBA, Maurice has founded successful business ventures including the Lucas Investment Properties, Travel Planners Inc. and ML Sports, which focuses on event planning and management. Maurice became personally involved with Legacy Emanuel Children’s Hospital when his daughter, Kristin, was born there weighing only one-pound, six-ounces. Raised over 1.5 million dollars for charities. She received two months of vital care at the hospital’s Neonatal Special Care Unit and is a healthy, thriving teenager today. Maurice is also a founding member of UNICRU Inc. As well as a founding member of EID Passport Inc. both companies are headquartered in Beaverton, Oregon. In 2005, Lucas rejoined the Trail Blazers as an assistant coach under Nate McMillan. He is in his Fourth year as Assistant Coach for the Portland Trail Blazers. See video provided by NBA.com
