MAURICE LUCAS

February 18th, 1952 – October 31st, 2010

Maurice Lucas was known by many as the greatest player to ever wear a Portland Trailblazers uniform.  His on-court success is well documented, and his legacy in the Portland community will always be felt.  Maurice was involved in many charities, and his most recent act of goodwill was the formation of his personal foundation: The Maurice Lucas Foundation, Supporting Youth Sports and Cancer Awareness.

Maurice’s foundation will help make youth aware of the disease which plagued him, in hopes that they never endure what he did.  Maurice realized that sports are very influential for today’s youth, and therefore he would also like to use his foundation as a platform to positively support youth sports.

* Helping people get well, stay well & fight back against cancer

* Promoting awareness and education for the early detection of cancer
